Samuel Yerrell.

Samuel Yerrell was a Private (19527) in the 8th Bat. Bedfordshire Regt.

He was born in November 1866 in the village of Eaton Socon, St. Neots, Huntingdonshire to John & Mary Yerrell. He enlisted at Huntingdon in February 1915, in the HCB and died of wounds in France where he had been since September, on 25 December 1915.

His son, Pte. Jack Yerrell of the 2nd Bn. Sherwood Foresters, who was serving in the same area, was at once summoned to his father's bedside and spoke to him before he died.   Another son, Sgt. Samuel Yerrell, who volunteered at the age of 17, served in France & Italy, and was demobilised in May 1919.

Pte. YERRELL left a widow Annie (Nee DENHAM) who he had married at Ramsey Church on 15 November 1891.
