The Huntingdonshire Cyclist Battalions

G. W. or W. G. Tappenden.

Local newspaper entries indicate that by 17th October 1914 Private G. W. Tappenden had been promoted to the rank of Paid Lance Corporal at the time it was indicated that he was serving in A Company. He was first recorded as being in the HCB on the 8/1/1915.

. Many thanks to Graeme Walden for providing data, and photographs, on his grandfather Harold (Harry) James Cockbill. He advises that Harry talked about his friend who he referred to as 'Tapper' - his photo is included above.
