Reunions of the Hunts. Cyclist Battalions.

Photo 1:

This is one of a series of photographs of the reunions that they originally held every 10 years, it is from my own collection - the original source is unknown.  This one was held at the 'Black Bull' at Godmanchester on 10th October 1964.  The photograph includes:

Harold 'Pecker' Bradshaw         [Holding plaque front row.]

Tommy Peake                                [Front row holding chair.]

Richard (Dick) Cumberland  [Far right of the photo]  Identified by his relation Ivan Ward.

These two men organised this event and then planned further reunions in the future.  The toast was proposed by the chairman. A silence was held in Remembrance of fallen Comrades and those since passed on.  Grace was spoken by Wyman Abbot Esq.  and the address of welcome was spoken by K. Hunnybun Esq.  A toast for old comrades of the Hunts. Cyclists was proposed by Lewis Day Esq.  The meal was a full traditional Beef roast followed by the consumption of large quantities of wine and spirits.  Several menus are surviving with the signatures of other members of the H. C. B. that attended.

Each member of the reunion was given a badge on which to write his name and Company on.  Many men also wore their old cap badges in their lapels in order to help identified their comrades from so many years ago. These photos are from my collection handed down to me from Horace Jaikens - my Grandfather.
