John William Watson.

. Many thanks to Brian Curtis who kindly supplied the following family background to John.  John was the Grandfather of this soldier

Afamily baptisms of an aunt who had been baptised in 1915 and grandfather’s (John Watson) occupation was given as a Lance Corporal in the Hunts Cyclists Corps. John Watson was a Lance Corporal in G company. The family talk says that he was a cook, and I believe he stayed with them for the duration of the war. John William Watson was born in Chatteris in 1876 and moved to Peterborough where he worked in the brickyards, in 1899 he married Rebecca Smith and they raised 11 children. They lived for most of their lives at 216 Belsize Avenue Woodston  -the address on the baptism record. John died in 1948.
