George William Waite.

. From a local paper dated September 23rd 1916  =  Private G. W. Waite, attached to the Bucks Regiment, youngest son of Mr and Mrs. W. Waite of Westwood Row, Peterborough, was reported missing on August 23rd.

He came from 1Old Westwood Row, 267485, Private, Huntingdonshire Cyclists Battalion.   =  Killed in action 23.8.16 on the Somme, France.

From a local paper dated 26/5/1917    Private George William Waite, Hunts Cyclists, attached Oxford and Bucks. Light Infantry who has been missing, is now officially reported as being killed in action on 23rd August 1916. He is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Waite, Thistlemore Road, Peterborough, and employed by the late Mr. Wilder, 'Three Tuns' Inn, Westwood Street, Peterborough.

From a local newspaper dated 2/6/1917 = Pte. George W. Waite, Cyclist Battalion, attached to the Ox. & Bucks. L. I., youngest son of Mr. & Mrs. W. Waite, 1 Westwood Row Peterborough, is officially reported killed.  He had been entered as missing and wounded for nine months.  For several years he was in the Cyclists before war broke out, and for some time before going to France he was on the East Coast.

. Waite George William, born Peterborough, N1ants., e Fletton, Hunts., (Peterborough), 267485 Pte., KIA 23/8/16. Age 24. Mill Road Cemetery V1 B 6. Formerly 275 Beds. Regt. He served in the 1st Bucks Bn. Ox & Bucks Light infantry.
