Pte. W. Upchurch [HCB No. 691 -  Under Battalion orders 171, issued by Captain J. C. S. Musk, officer commanding 2/1st Huntingdonshire Cyclist Battalion issued at Well camp, Alford, Lincs. on 28th July 1916 at 8:00 p.m., and signed by W. L. Stephenson  (Second Lieutenant and acting adjutant), orders being for the following day i.e. 29th July 1916, records indicate that he was one of the men that was granted Expeditionary Force Leave from 16-7-1916 to 20-7-1916 inclusive. At the time he was in B company.

. Upon enlistment, on the 21/10/1914 at Huntingdon, he gave his address as Walnut Tree Cottage, Hartford.  He was posted into the 2/1st [Reserve Battalion] of the HCB. 
. He was posted to the base depot B. E. F. France on 26th July 1916, he was rationed up to and for that day. Order was part 2 No. 171 issued by W. L. Stephenson, 2/Lieut. & acting Adjutant, 2/1st Hunts. Cyclist Battalion. The order was issued at Well Camp Alford at 8-00 p.m., 28th July 1916   He was later transferred into the 1st Bedford Regiment with the Army number 290180.
