. D230 = 290521 Tilson Under Battalion orders 242, issued by Lieut. Col. M. D. Barkley, officer commanding 2/1st Huntingdonshire Cyclist Battalion issued at Vine cottage, Chapel St. Leonards, Alford, Lincs. on 12th October 1917 at 6:30 p.m., and signed by W. J. Satchell (Captain and Adjutant), orders being for the following day i.e. 13th October 1917 (Ref: 153), records indicate that he was granted proficiency pay class 1 instead of class 2 from 4/4/1917, at the time he was a lance sergeant in B company of the 2/1st. Huntingdonshire Cyclist Battalion stationed on the Lincolnshire coast.
