Spencer George Taylor.

Spencer George Taylor enlisted in the Huntingdonshire Cyclist Battalions  on the 7th November 1914 and was posted into the 2/1st Battalion, posted to 'C' company with the H C B number of 1005.  He held the rank of Private.

George Spencer Taylor was born 25th June 1895 at Ramsey St Marys, Huntingdonshire.  He was the first child of John William and Sarah Taylor (nee Spencer). 

He served on the East coat, 'coast watching', along the cliffs and was stationed at Filey at some time in his service there.

He volunteered for overseas service and was awarded the 'Imperial Service' badge. 

He was posted to the base depot B. E. F. France on 26th July 1916, he was rationed up to and for that day. Order was part 2 No. 171 issued by W. L. Stephenson, 2/Lieut. & acting Adjutant, 2/1st Hunts. Cyclist Battalion. The order was issued at Well Camp Alford at 8-00 p.m., 28th July 1916. He was a cousin to Bill Bedford's mother.

At an unknown date he went to France and was posted into the 2nd Royal Warwickshire Regt. and provided with the Army number 30252 or 30232.  at some time he was also  in the 14th (service) Battalion of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment.
