John James Tomblin.

He is remembered on the Filey War Memorial as well as on the Menin Gate in Ypres. 

Marriage Details - Sergeant John James Tomblin was the son of William Aretier Tomblin married Elizabeth Camish (Norwegian ??) on 19th  April 1916 at St. Oswald's, Filey. (Her cousin (Mary Margaret Camish) married a HCB man H. G. E. Lovitt) see notes. They had children:

Jack Crane Tomblin was born on the 29 April 1914, he went on to become a fireman at Scarborough Fire Station.

 

 

This is a photo of his name from the Menin Gate in Ypres.  He is remembered on panel 52 as a Sergeant in the 4th London Regiment. .
Local newspaper entries indicate that by 17th October 1914 Provisional Corporal J. Tomblin had been promoted to the rank of Sergeant at the time it was indicated that he was serving in H Company.

He is commemorated on Filey town memorial, St. Oswald's church memorial & on the Menin Gate Memorial Panel 52, at Ypres in Belgium.

Previously served in Huntingdonshire Cyclists Battalion before being merged into his final regiment.
