J. S. Tysoe.

. Local newspaper entries indicate that by 18th December 1914 Private J. S. Tysoe had been promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal at the time it was indicated that he was serving as soldier number 788 in the 2/1st Huntingdonshire Cyclist Battn. 

L/Sergt J. Tysoe 290193 - Under Battalion orders 293, issued by Lieut. Col. J. L. Barkley V. D., officer commanding 2/1st Huntingdonshire Cyclist Battalion issued at Vine cottage, Chapel St. Leonards, Alford, Lincs. on 11th December 1916 at 6:00 p.m., and signed by W. J. Satchell (Captain and Adjutant), orders being for the following day i.e. 12 December 1916 (Ref: 151), records indicate that he was placed under orders to proceed overseas and if he was holding an acting rank  he was to revert to his substantive rank before proceeding overseas. At the time he was in B company with the 2/1st HCB based on the Lincolnshire coast.

290195  J. S. Tysoe     =     Under Battalion orders 242, issued by Lieut. Col. M.D. Barkley, officer commanding 2/1st Huntingdonshire Cyclist Battalion issued at Vine cottage, Chapel St. Leonards, Alford, Lincs. on 12th October 1917 at 6:30 p.m., and signed by W. J. Satchell (Captain and Adjutant), orders being for the following day i.e. 13th October 1917 (Ref: 153), records indicate that he was granted proficiency pay class 1 instead of class 2 from 17/4/1917, at the time he was lance sergeant in B company of the 2/1st. Huntingdonshire Cyclist Battalion stationed on the Lincolnshire coast.
