William Henry James Sere. |
William James [W H J] Sere - 219 in the 1/1st H C B. He was from Wood Newton, Yorkshire and enlisted at Huntingdon. He transferred to the 1st Royal Berkshire Regiment with the service number 39256 - He was subsequently transferred into the 2nd Royal Berkshire Regiment where on the 6/4/1917 he died of wounds aged 24. He was a signaler trained at Filey, and went to France July 1916. In September 1916 he was gassed and had a bullet injury to his neck, went back to France 23rd March 1917 and there was reported DOW. Also listed as William Henry James [Will]. He was simply William on WO 329 Berks. He is buried at Fins New British Cemetery, Sorel-Le-Grand, Somme, France. |
