  William enlisted in the Huntingdonshire Cyclist Battalion at their Headquarters in St. Mary's Street, Huntingdon, sometime in mid November 1915 - the exact date is unknown, but by the 19/11/1915 he is mentioned as being a member of the HCB.  He was listed as coming from Lotting Fen, Ramsey Heights, he also stared that he was born in Ramsey Heights, Huntingdonshire.

He was posted to D Company of the 2/1st [Reserve] Battalion and allocated the HCB number of 1614

  Extract from the Peterborough Advertiser dated 8th September 1917.

Pte. Wm. R. Sinclair, Hunts. Cyclist Battalion, attached to the Royal Warwicks,
third son of Mr. & Mrs. D. Sinclair, of Ramsey Heights, who has been missing since September 3rd 1916, is now reported killed in action in France. The deceased soldier was only 19 years of age.

 

  He was posted to the base depot B.E.F. France on 26th July 1916, he was rationed up to and for that day. Order was part 2 No. 171 issued by W. L .Stephenson, 2/Lieut. & acting Adjutant, 2/1st Hunts. Cyclist Battalion. The order was issued at Well Camp Alford at 8-00 p.m., 28th July 1916.

Killed in action, F & F.    3/9/1916 Ramsey Height's Methodist Church. Son of Mr. & Mrs. Daniel

27 July 1916 = Private in D Co. 2/1st HCB.

ref 7/14 states that he was a private in the R. Worcesters, with photo.???check this out.
