Frederick John Suter.

Army No. 411554 Pte. Frederick John Suter.  He was born 28/8/1900 at Bowbridge, New Balderton, Newark, Notts. to Mr Frederick Suter and Mrs Sarah Jane Suter (nee Lord). His birth was registered at Bennington Sub District on 26/9/1900

The family have an envelope addressed to him @ 4th Batt N. V. R., D Coy,2/x, Hunts Cyclists, Sea View, Skegness, Lincs. dated Jul 12th 1918. [See below]

It is understood that he volunteered but was sent home when it was discovered that he was under-age. He later served in the Royal Air Force.  There is a family photograph of him, believed taken at Skegness, in army uniform and wearing a flat cap with a badge, similar to the royal coat-of-arms, and as yet unidentified.

Many thanks to Vivian Suter, the son of F. J. Suter and his family, for providing the information on this soldier.
