Lance
Corporal H. J. Palmer, signaling section, Beds Regiment, Swans
Place, Peterborough, died of wounds received in action on October 13th
1917, he was 20 years of age and was formerly in the cooperative grocery
department, Park Road, Peterborough, and enlisted in the Cycle Corps in
September 1915. The Chaplain writing to his mother stated: "A
transfusion was resorted to owing to the lad losing much blood, and
although this saved his life for the time being, he died of severe shock
following an operation performed to remove shrapnel from his chest". |
