Bert Manning.

Bert Manning joined the Hunts Cycle Battalion at Fletton, where he gave his address as 45 Silver Street, New Fletton,  Peterborough.  He was assigned the HCB number of 312 and was posted to the 1/1st Hunts. Cyclist [Home Service] Battalion.

Little is known about his service life, but a newspaper cutting indicated that he survived the war and as 'Private B. Manning attended the re-union of the H. C. B. 'old boys' held in the 'Golden Lion' at Stanground on Friday 4th, November 1932.

Family tradition is that he served at Filey - this would tie in with him being in the 1/1st HCB as they were stationed there 'coast watching' for a good length of time.

Research is currently being undertaken on this soldier - many thanks to Ann Stokes who is Bert Manning's granddaughter for information on this soldier.
