Archer Manning.
. | Thought to be the same person as listed as Charles Archie Manning] William served in the 3/1st HCB enlisting at Huntingdon. He came from Offord Darcy and was later transferred into the Royal Naval Division. He was one of fifty three men that formed part of a draft that was sent from Huntingdon to the 2/1st Hunts. Cyclists in Lincolnshire on Saturday< 21/1/1916. [Ref 166 21/1/1916] He was later awarded the Military Medal. It is hoped to add more information to this page in the near future. ----------------------------------------------------------- From a local newspaper dated 16th November 1917 - Pte. A. Manning (Cyclists), of Offord, has been gassed, he is at a base hospital in France. 1717 From a local newspaper dated 16th November 1917 - Pte. A. Manning, of Offord Darcy, attached to the Naval Division, has been gassed and is at the base hospital. 302 From a local newspaper dated 22nd December 1917 - Pte. A. Manning, Cyclists, of Offord, has been gassed. 1717 From a local newspaper dated 28th September 1918 - Able Seaman Archie Manning, of Offord Darcy, has been awarded the Military Medal for an act of bravery and devotion to duty under shell fire in France. 2154 |
