. From a local newspaper dated 14th October 1916 - Pte. Arthur Irons, Cyclists, of Eynesbury, reported missing, now writes he is a prisoner of war in Germany.

. From a local newspaper dated 15 September 1916 - Much sympathy in their anxiety is felt with the parents of Pte. S. Warner [St. Neots] and a Pte. A. Irons, of Eynesbury [Cyclist battalion], who are unofficially reported missing.

. From a local newspaper dated 13/10/2016 - Sergt. A. Irons, of Eynesbury, who is a prisoner of war in Germany, has written home saying that he is quite well, but that he would like his parents to send him some food.
