James Samuel Hinsby.

James came from St. Neots in Huntingdonshire, now Cambridgeshire, and notes indicate he was born on 19th May 1897. He served in the HCB, enlisting 8/12/1914, but later transferred to the Machine Gun corps. [10th Irish Division] with the number - 43202. 

 

One set of records indicate that he was a Corporal in the HCB - possibly an Acting Corporal in the M G C - being Disembodied at Purfleet on the 31-7-1919.

 

It is known that he was in Egypt 1918 and in Sinai at Armistice.

 

A HCB man named Hinsby is on a list of men receiving parcels as a P. O. W. in Germany at 23rd August 1917. His name is within a block number of men that served in the Machine Gun Corps.

 

. His name is on a list of men receiving parcels as a Prisoner of War in Germany at 23rd August 1917. His name was added as well as the data within a block number of men that served in the M. G. C. - More research is needed to prove this fact. The data came from the M. G. C medal rolls wo-329-1743. Check other details as two men with M. G. C connections. Jim Parker confirms the data as detailed. He died 23/3/1973.
