newspaper entries indicate that by 17th October 1914 Provisional Corporal
G. E. Haynes had been promoted to the rank of Sergeant at the time it was
indicated that he was serving in B Company.
From a local newspaper dated 28/9/1917 = Corp. G. E. Haynes, of St. Germain Street, Huntingdon, (London Regiment), formerly on the staff of the "Hunts. County News," is officially reported badly wounded under the left armpit, and is in hospital at Liverpool for special nerve treatment. 4th (City of London) Bat. London Regt. (Royal
