The Huntingdonshire Cyclist Battalions

William James Valentine Davis.

. William was born on the 14th February 1898 and subsequently he enlisted with the Hunts Cyclists holding the HCB number of 293 and the rank of private in the 1/1st Battalion. As such he would have served in Yorkshire with the rest of the Battalion 'Coast Watching' for enemy invasion.
At some later date he transferred to being a Private in the 1/7th Battalion of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment with a new Army number of 26848. [WO 372/5].

William later married a local girl that he met in Yorkshire, she came from Flamborough near Scarborough in Yorkshire & after the war they came back to live in Folksworth near Peterborough.
