S. Colbert.

.

From a local newspaper dated 31/8/17 Private S. Colbert, of Offord, killed.

With the deepest regret we have to record the death of another Offord soldier, Private Stanley Colbert, Royal Warwickshire Regiment. His home was at Offord Cluny. He enlisted nearly three years ago, and after being stationed for some time on the East Coast, about a year ago he proceeded to France . He was a quiet, steady young man, most respected and liked by everyone he came in contact with. He was expected home on leave when his friends received the sad news of his death. Much sympathy is felt for Mr. and Mrs. Colbert and family in their sad bereavement. The following letter was received by his mother:-

"18th August 1917.   Dear Mrs. Colbert, I much regret to inform you that your son, Stanley, was killed on the morning of the 16th at his post, whilst waiting to attend the wounded. Please accept my deepest sympathy. Yours sincerely, S. B. W. Webster, Royal Warwick ."
