Edward Carlton.

Edward enlisted in the HCB when he gave his abode as Huntingdon, being born there, he was posted to B Company of the 1st Battalion.   He gave his occupation as a polisher at Messrs Windover's works.

From a local paper dated 23/4/1915  -  Cyclist's death.  The death is reported from Filey of Lance-Corpl. E. Carlton, of B Company, Hunts. Cyclists.  The deceased , prior to the war, was employed as a polisher at Messrs. Windover's Works at Huntingdon.  He belonged to Huntingdon, and leaves a widow and three children.

'Acomb Soldier's Death.  - Lance Corporal Edward Carlton.  -- The photograph  reproduced is that of Lance- Corporal Edward Carlton, who is well known in Acomb, and who died on Monday in Scarborough Hospital following two operations.  The deceased was a member of the 1st. Huntingdonshire Cyclist Battalion.'

The name of Edward Carlton is also listed on the Acomb War Memorial - (St. Stephen) Churchyard, Yorkshire - grave is in the east part of new ground.
