W. H. Bennett.

dated 17/11/1917 - The Great Paxton Parish magazine notes the following:
Three youths from Great Paxton joined the Cyclist Battalion. Together
their average age was under 17. Almost at the same time one of them,
Frank Lunnis, was killed, another S. R. Saunders was reported missing,
and the third, W. H. Bennett, has received five wounds. The latter has
been home, and is now undergoing an operation to have a portion of shell
removed from his chest.
Local newspaper entries indicate that by 18th December 1914 Private W. H. Bennett had been promoted to the rank of Provisional Corporal at the time it was indicated that he was serving as soldier number 577 in the 2/1st Huntingdonshire Cyclist Battn. |
