Percival Charles Barlow.

Percival Charles Barlow was born in Somersham, Huntingdonshire.  he was the son of Charles and Catherine Barlow, also from Somersham.  He travelled from there to enlist in the HQ of the HCB at Princes Street, Huntingdon and was allocated the HCB number 1683, posted to the 2/1st [Reserve] Battalion, and sent to C Company.

He was posted to the base depot B.E.F. France on 26th July 1916, he was rationed up to and for that day. Order was part 2 No. 171 issued by W. L. Stephenson, 2/Lieut. & acting Adjutant, 2/1st Hunts. Cyclist Battalion. The order was issued at Well Camp Alford at 8-00 p.m., 28th July 1916. by November 1916 he was reported as missing in the Huntingdon Casualty lists.

When Percival arrived in France he was sent to the 14 (Service) Bat. Royal Warwickshire Regt. and re numbered with the Army number 30217.

Percival was Killed in action - France and Flanders on the 3/9/1916.  He has no known grave and is remembered on a panel of the Thiepval Memorial.

. His name is on the stained glass window in Somersham Parish Church.
