. From a local newspaper dated October 26th 1918  -  Peterborough Sergeant's Funeral

Sergeant H.E. Blake, Hunts Cyclists, son of Mr and Mrs J.E. Blake of Cowgate, Peterborough, was buried with military honours in Peterborough cemetery on Monday afternoon. His death took place on Friday evening from spinal trouble. Sgt Blake, whose father is a well known District Inspector of the GNR Peterborough, was only 24 years of age and was discharged from the army at the end of last year. The first portion of the service was conducted in St Johns Church by Cannon Morse, who also officiated at the graveside. The cortege was headed by the Peterborough Trades and Labour Council Band, and several members of the Discharged Soldiers and Sailors Federation followed. The 'Dead March' was played by the band on the way to the cemetery, and the 'Last Post' was sounded at the graveside by Drummer J.J. Munson. The coffin, which was covered with the Union Jack, was of polished Elm, and bore the inscription: Harry Edward Blake, Born October 3 1 st 1894, Died October 18th 1918. Amongst the many beautiful floral tributes were one from the Discharged Soldiers and Sailors Federation, and one from the Goods Department, the Great Northern Railway. Mr W.H. Snow, Westgate, carried out the funeral arrangements.
