Christian Albert Bridge.

. He enlisted in the HCB with the HCB number 1216 and was first noted as being with them before the15/6/1915 was posted to the 2/1st Battalion of the HCB and was put in B Company.  When he enlisted he gave his parents details as Thomas and Georgina Bridge, from 8 High St., Catworth, Huntingdonshire although he lived in Easton, Huntingdonshire.

Christian [he preferred to be called Albert] was transferred as a private into  the 1st Royal Berkshire Regiment - he also served in the 7th Royal Berkshire Regiment - transferring late 1918 - to go to Salonika - his service number was 39284.

He was posted to the base depot B. E. F. France on 26th July 1916, he was rationed up to and for that day. Order was part 2 No. 171 issued by W. L. Stephenson, 2/Lieut. & acting Adjutant, 2/1st Hunts. Cyclist Battalion. The order was issued at Well Camp Alford at 8-00 p.m., 28th July 1916. He married Daisy [great uncle's sister] another HCB man's sister,  Oliver George Clarke's older sister Daisy - they had six children.

He survived the war, but suffered very badly shell-shocked and finally, sadly, died in 1939.

They lived at Peterborough and had 5 children.  Christian Albert Bridge had a younger brother in the HCB his name was Valentine Bridge.
