A. H. Barker.

. A. H. Barker enlisted in the HCB at Huntingdon, on an unknown date, he was posted to D Company of the 2/1st HCB with the HCB number of 291327.  Records show that he later held the rank of Lance Corporal.

L/c A. H. Barker 291327 D company - Under Battalion orders 293, issued by Lieut. Col. J. L. Barkley V. D., officer commanding 2/1st Huntingdonshire Cyclist Battalion issued at Vine cottage, Chapel St. Leonards, Alford, Lincs. on 11th December 1916 at 6:00 p.m., and signed by W. J. Satchell (Captain and Adjutant), orders being for the following day i.e. 12 December 1916, records indicate that he was granted leave of absence from 12-2-1917 to 16-12-1917 inclusive.  He had already been  placed under orders to proceed overseas with D Company,12 December 1917, Order dated 12 December 1917, Vine cottage Chapel St. Leonards, signed by Lt. Col. J.L Barclay V.D. If he held a acting rank then he was to revert to his substantive rank before proceeding overseas.

Satchell (Captain and Adjutant), orders being for the following day i.e. 12 December 1916 (Ref: 151), records indicate that he was placed under orders to proceed overseas and if he was holding an acting rank he was to revert to his substantive rank before proceeding overseas. At the time he was in D company with the 2/1st HCB based on the Lincolnshire coast.
