Arthur H. Mellows.

Lt. (temp Capt.) A. H. Mellows to be Captain (4th May) = He was one of a small number of officers from the H C B that received a promotion as reported in the London Gazette.  17/5/1916 

From a local paper dated  3/3/1917 - Captain Arthur Mellows, in a letter to his parents, the Town Clerk and Mrs. Mellows, gives a very interesting account of his voyage en route for service in Mesopotamia.

Mr. Arthur H. Mellows was the 2nd son of the then Town Clerk of Peterborough, born on the March 5th 1892. He was in his last year at Oxford when the war started where he was taking Classics with Philosophy.
