Local papers of the 30-3-1917 quote:- "The
following has appeared in the personal column of the "Times"
this week :- " Coote - Lieut. C. M. Coote, attached Glousters,
reported missing July 24th - Any information gratefully received by Harold
Coote, Houghton Grange, Hunts." From a
local paper dated
30-3-1917 "
Lieut. Mervyn Coote, son of Mr. C. Harold Coote of Houghton Grange, who
was reported missing, is a prisoner of war in Germany." 20/4/1917 "Lieut. Coote, son of H. M. Lieut. and Mrs. Coote, of Stukeley Hall, was wounded in the arm in the recent advance, and has returned home." We
are very glad to hear that Lt. Mervyn Coote, son of Mr.
Harold Coote, who was reported missing, his a prisoner of war in
Germany. From a local paper dated 23/3/17 = We are very glad to hear that Lt. Mervyn Coote, son of Mr C. Harold Coote, who was reported missing, is a prisoner of war in Germany. From a local paper dated 17/10/1914 under a heading "The Hunts. Cyclist Battalion." orders for Sunday (< 17/10/1914) gave the following change of company responsibility for the officers, it was also stated that these changes were by no means permanent. Lieutenant C. M. Coote to be posted to B Company. |
