Ramsey St. Mary's Cemetery.

The war grave plot in Ramsey St. mar's Cemetery.  The grave are located at the bottom of a steep bank at the side of the church, which, due to its construction on fen soil is on the top of the bank.

Born at Ramsey St. Marys on 13th April 1879, son of Samuel & Alice HUGHES, died at the Edinburgh War Hospital on Wednesday, 28th November 1917, aged 37 years, and was buried in Ramsey St. Marys churchyard.  [Also on Ramsey St. Marys & Pondersbridge memorials]

Formerly 28224 5th Bn. Bedfordshire Regt, Labour Corps. Private – 85421 - 143rd Labour Corps.

267487  G. Rootham. Buckinghamshire Battn. Oxford & Bucks. Light Inf. 8th September 1917 Age 24.  

He was the son of William Thomas & Emma Elizabeth ROOTHAM of Ashbeach Road, Ramsey St. Marys, died on Saturday, 8th September 1917, aged 24 years, and was buried in Ramsey St. Marys Churchyard.    [Also on Ramsey St. Marys memorial]  He served in the 1st Bucks. Bn,  Oxford & Bucks. Light Infantry.

21042 Private. L. A. Corney. E. Kent Regt The Buffs.  11th March 1917. 

From Ramsey St. Marys, Born at Pondersbridge, son of Alfred Arthur & Sarah Ann CORNEY, enlisted at Huntingdon.  He died at the Castle Mount Hospital, Dover, on Sunday, 11th March 1917, aged 19 years, and was buried in Ramsey St. Marys churchyard.    [Also on Ramsey St. Marys memorial]
